Are surfing lessons available?

Yes, we offer progressive surfing lessons for beginner, intermediate and advanced surfers.

Are surfing lessons available?

Yes we can provide guided surf trips around the island for you.

Do you offer just transportation to the waves?

Yes, we can provide surf taxi shuttle service for you to any of the breaks around the island.

Do I have to bring my own board?

We provide soft top boards during all of our beginner and intermediate lessons, however those in the advanced program usually already have their own equipment. We do have a few shortboards available for rent if you do not have your own though.

Do you provide rash guard, sunscreen and zinc?

We do provide rash guards, however we don't provide and recommend that you bring your own sunscreen, zinc, swim suit and towel.

How do we get out to the waves?

We use our boat to get out to all the waves. The boat can easily accommodate ten people plus boards. Our boat is also outfitted with surfboard racks for easy travel with boards.

How long are the lessons?

Our typical surf lessons are around three hours total. Roughly an hour for travel time, loading / unloading the boat, land training and theory and then we spend about two hours in the water.

How big are the groups?

We keep a maximum instructor/student ratio of 1:3 to ensure safety and proper supervision. Quality over quantity.

Do you offer surf photography?

Yes, we usually send out our photographer to take photos of the students and then give you the option to buy them if you like them. For guided trips or taxi service, you can hire a photographer to do in water or distance shots.

Where is Nusa Lembongan?

Nusa Lembongan is a small island laying to the southeast of Bali in Indonesia.

How to get there from Bali?

You can get to Nusa Lembongan from Bali using the Fast Boats that depart from Sanur. About 30 minutes travel time.

Are there other ways to get there?

Boat transportation is also available from Nusa Penida while some boats offer service from Lombok and the Gili Islands too.

How big is Nusa Lembongan?

You can drive around the island in about 1 hour here. There are roughly 5000 people living on the island.

How do I get around the island?

Most people rent a scooter to get around the island. Many businesses have a variety of models available for daily, weekly or monthly rental. There are some places that rent bicycles out as well if you prefer that. Although there are no cars on the island, most big resorts and fast boat companies have small trucks for group transportation.

What sort of Accommodation is available?

Everything from small balinese style rooms to luxury private villas can be found on Nusa Lembongan. Budgets range from $5/night to well over $1000/night depending on what you are after.

What is there to do on Nusa Lembongan?

Watersports such as surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving and free diving are very popular here. On land, you can find pristine white sand beaches, gorgeous views and some select special areas like Devil's Tear and Blue Lagoon.

Where to eat and drink on the island?

There are a variety of really good options here whether you are looking for breakfast, lunch or dinner. From local cuisine to western delights, vegan and vegetarian, there are options for everyone. Most restaurants will offer a range of drinks like fruit juices and smoothies, fresh coconuts as well as a variety of cocktails and beer.

Are there Hospitals on the island?

There is a small hospital / clinic on the main road in Jungut Batu. There is also a newer hospital / clinic called East Medical closer to Lembongan village. For any major or very serious complications, you will need to go to Bali. East Medical also has their own fast boat for medical evac situations.

Are there ATM's or Money Changers?

There are a few ATM's and money changers scattered across the island. While most establishments accept major credit cards, we do recommend to withdraw your money in Bali prior to arriving as there are just a few ATM's.

Nusa Lembongan Surf FAQ

How many waves are there?

Nusa Lembongan is home to four main surf breaks. Playgrounds, Lacerations, Razors and Shipwrecks. Nusa Ceningan is home to Mahana Point wave, making five in total.

Are they rights or lefts?

Razors, Ceningan and Playgrounds are all left hand waves. Lacerations and Shipwrecks are the other main right handers. Playgrounds also has a right hander as it is an A-Frame style wave.

Is the surf good for beginners?

Razors is a great wave to learn to surf on. At high tide, it provides long white waves that can be quite long. Lacerations and playgrounds are also beginner friendly when conditions permit.

How is it for intermediate or advanced surfers?

When the swell starts to pick up, the waves around Lembongan can be picture perfect barrel machines. Lacerations being the premiere barrel factory with shipwrecks offering up lots of turns and barrel sections. Great waves for Intermediate and Advanced surfers.

Are the waves close to shore?

You can paddle or take a boat to all the waves. Razors and Shipwrecks are about 500m offshore, a 15 minute paddle. Playgrounds is closer and a relatively short paddle out, with Lacerations being another 5 minutes extra. Ceningan you will drive to and is very close to shoreline.

Are the waves crowded there?

When all the breaks are working, crowds will be spread out well. Typically, there will be a lot of waves rolling through too. However, same as most areas around, it can be busy at times.

Are the waves sand bottom or reef?

All of the surf breaks are over coral reef here. Not a huge problem during high tides as there is lot's of water below. If you are planning to surf during low tides, exercise caution as the reef is very sharp and shallow.

How consistent are the waves?

From April/May to September/October the surf will be on, providing good waves almost everyday. From November through to March, it can be hit or miss. Some days will be perfect and glassy, other will be rainy, windy and flat. However, crowds are much less during those months.
